One of our LOOLA Team Member’s is a seasoned veteran of County meeting protocol, she has the
following pointers for people who are contemplating going to meetings or
are unable to. Your voice can be heard either way. She gives the same
advise to people when she’s gathering signatures for the petition.
1. If you want to influence the board members to
change the law and vote FOR off-leash dog times at the beach, but are unable
to make it to important meetings, you can call or write to
one, many, or all of the board members a few days prior to the meeting. The
Santa Cruz County official organization websites have their list of the board of directors with addresses
and telephone numbers, and some have email addresses.
2. For supporters who attend meetings and want to go the
microphone to speak, it is OK to have your statement written and to read it.
After reading it, have your copies prepared for all the board members .
3. Other supporters who attend meetings, but do NOT feel
comfortable going to the mic to make a public comment can have a their written statement ready and hand them to the appropriate member at meeting.
